My verdict on PFTM

The PFTM is the most specialised of the four courses, applying the macro process specifically to currency markets: central bank policy differentials, balance of payments, capital flows, and carry trades. It is fundamentals-led, not chart-led, and in my view that is its main distinguishing feature compared with most forex education.

I found the method for linking policy differentials and capital flows to currency moves the most useful part of the course. It gives a structured way to think about why a pair is moving, rather than relying on chart patterns alone. It is detailed material, and a macro grounding from the PTM helps you get full value. ITPM's own sequence puts PFTM last, perhaps 6 to 12 months after IPLT, PTM and POTM; you can buy it on its own, but the currency material assumes that grounding is already there. Its focus is entirely currencies, which is the point if FX is your market.

How the course approaches currencies

For $2,999 you get 29 videos · 12-month access of rigorous, fundamentals-led currency work. What it covers:

  • How central bank policy differentials drive currency pairs across G10 and emerging markets
  • Balance of payments analysis: current account, capital flows, and their impact on currencies
  • Interest rate differentials and carry trades: the professional approach to forex positioning
  • Macro regime analysis for currencies: understanding which environments favour which currencies
  • Risk management in forex: professional position sizing and correlation management
  • Geopolitical risk assessment and its impact on currency markets

The material I found most useful

Its strongest feature is the connection between macroeconomics and a specific currency view. The course gives structure to the policy and flow data that can otherwise feel disconnected.

  • A rigorous, fundamentals-led approach to forex, in my experience
  • Macro-driven, not chart-driven, which suits how I think about currencies
  • Understanding central bank policy differentials is genuinely useful

Who should choose the FX route

Choose PFTM if currencies are your main interest and you enjoy working with macroeconomic data. It is ITPM's most specialised course, going furthest on fundamental analysis, central bank policy and global macroeconomics as they apply to currency markets. It is not a course about chart patterns or forex signals.

When I would take PFTM

PFTM is the specialist currency course, with a deeper focus on rate differentials, positioning and the relationships between currencies and other asset classes. It can be taken for that specialism alone, while traders who have completed PTM will recognise the same top-down logic.

  • Fundamentals-led and detailed, so it rewards real study time

The depth is the reason the FX material holds up, and in my view the rigour is the value. The FX Carry & Positioning panel gives you current rate differentials and weekly futures positioning, so the theory always has live context to attach to.

  • Focused entirely on currencies, as a specialist course should be

If you want to trade currencies, that specialisation is the whole point. It also complements the PTM: the macro analysis carries straight across, and the discounts here apply to both if you want the pair.
